Terms of Service

Effective 17 April 2026

These terms govern your use of CyclingRoutes.cc. By using the site you agree to them. If you disagree, please do not use the site.

About the service

CyclingRoutes.cc is a curated community guide to road cycling routes, operated by Tommy Nielsen in Norway. Use of the site is free for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Cycling-safety disclaimer

The routes, descriptions, maps and GPX files on CyclingRoutes.cc are provided for planning and inspiration only. Road surface, weather, traffic, construction, detours and local regulations change — what you see here may not reflect current conditions.

You are solely responsible for your own safety when cycling. Wear a helmet, obey local traffic laws, check current conditions before you ride, and ride within your ability. We accept no liability for accidents, injuries or losses connected to use of routes or information published on this site.

User-submitted content

You may submit cycling routes (via the Strava Connect flow or our legacy Tally form) and reviews of routes on the site.

Your rights

You retain copyright of anything you submit — text, photos, GPX data. You decide whether to submit.

Licence you grant us

By submitting content, you grant CyclingRoutes.cc a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to host, display, reproduce, translate, adapt and publish the content on the site and in connected marketing (for example, social media posts about a published route).

Your warranties

You confirm that: (a) the content is yours or you have permission to share it, (b) it does not infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights, (c) it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and (d) it is not defamatory, illegal or harmful.

Editorial review

We review every submission. We may edit for style, accuracy and clarity, or decline to publish without giving a reason. Nothing is published automatically.

Our content and intellectual property

All original content on CyclingRoutes.cc — including route descriptions written by us, editorial photos, design, logos and code — is owned by Tommy Nielsen unless otherwise stated. You may link to the site freely and view or download GPX files for personal cycling use.

Without our prior written permission you may not:

  • Republish our content on another site, app or service
  • Systematically scrape, copy or aggregate content
  • Use our content for commercial purposes (for example, a paid tour offering)
  • Remove attribution or copyright notices

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site in a way that violates any law
  • Submit fake, misleading or harmful content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to servers, accounts or admin areas
  • Interfere with the site's operation (abuse of API endpoints, denial-of-service, etc.)
  • Impersonate another person or entity

We may remove content or restrict access if you breach these terms.

Third-party links and services

The site links to third-party services — most notably Strava — and includes content hosted elsewhere (Strava routes, YouTube videos, OpenStreetMap tiles). We are not responsible for the content, terms or availability of those services.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep it accurate and online, but we make no warranty that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CyclingRoutes.cc and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of the site — including lost rides, lost data, or damage to equipment. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you have paid to use the site (which is zero).

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be handled by the courts of Norway, with Oslo District Court as the agreed venue.
