Femenia is the road into the Serra de Tramuntana from Pollença. There is a long false flat first: you ride towards the mountains for a good while before the climbing proper starts, which is worth knowing so you are not sat there wondering when it begins. Once it does, it is gentle enough to ride at your own tempo, the surface is good, and dry stone terraces run up alongside the road. The view is behind you rather than in front — turn round on a clear day and you get the bay below with the cape behind it. There is no summit as such, just a sign at the high point.
How long will Coll de Femenia take you?
A rider at 3.0 W/kg takes about 33 minutes to climb Coll de Femenia.
Put in your weight and the average power you hold on the gradient. We add 9 kg for bike and kit. The model works the time out from physics, and it has been tested against real rides.

The climb
The climbing starts in earnest once you are in among the mountains, and the first kilometres are the steepest. It is nothing awful, but that is where you set the pace for the rest.
Halfway up it flattens out almost completely. You can push on here, and this is the stretch where you get the lovely view behind you.
Then it rises again for the last section. It is no steeper than the bottom was, but after the break it takes a couple of hundred metres to get back into your rhythm.
The top is undramatic. The road levels off, and then you are at the high point.
